The 2010 GCC
is dedicated to
Cary Girod

Created by schools for schools, the Green Cup Challenge is the original student-driven inter-school energy challenge. The GCC invites all schools to measure and reduce electricity use and Greenhouse Gas emissions, and supports greening efforts including recycling and water conservation. The Challenge empowers students and builds community, while raising awareness about climate change and the importance of resource conservation.

Important Dates

For most of the Green Cup Challenge events, the first meter readings will need to be taken either Friday, January 22nd or Monday, January 25th. This is the "initial reading". The initial reading can be considered week 0.

The data submissions are due by 5 PM on the following Mondays: Feb. 1, 8, 15, 22. See Data and Meter Reading Directions for details. If you have already registered, go here to enter data:

Data Log In
Step 1: Register Your School

You will need to know the square footage of your building(s) and the population of students and faculty/staff. Once the Challenge is underway, you will sign back in on this site to update your electrical meter data (Step 3). Register your school for the Green Cup Challenge here:

Resgister Your School

Step 2: Join a Kick-off Conference

Attendance in a kick-off conference is suggested to build excitement around the Challenge. If there is not a kick-off location near you, consider hosting one. It only takes two schools to have a Challenge. Contact info@greencupchallenge.net for information about starting a Challenge in your area. You may still participate in the challenge if you missed the kick-off conference in your region. Contact a coordinator in your region in the right hand column.

Step 3: Provide Data

Once you have registered your school (in Step 1), you will receive a password for the database. Once the Challenge is underway, you will sign back in to update your electrical meter data at the above "Data Log-In". Here are the Data and Meter Reading Directions
